The cycle goes like this: a technology is introduced into an educational context with the aim to improve some facet(s) of learning. Research follows with the aim to provide empirical and credible evidence of the technology’s effectiveness. After the technology fails to achieve what has been promised, disappointment becomes widespread and the search for blame begins. Most often, teachers’ resistance is identified as the major reason for the failure. Rather than pausing to ask why the teachers do not use the technologies, the cycle begins again with a new technology.
Kanuka noemt m-learning en social software als voorbeelden van nieuwe technologie nu traditionele vormen van e-learning niet de hemel op aarde blijken te zijn.
